Founded in 1983 by Brian Grimwood, the Central Illustration Agency was born in Covent Garden with a small group of painters, print makers and calligraphers. That was then, this is now and from our HQ in Shoreditch, East London, CIA represents a diverse stable of commercial artists and animation studios based all over the world.
With every medium from 3D rendering and motion graphics to wood engraving and sculptural installation, we offer an incomparable range of visual languages. You can view and download our artists’ folios in the Illustration, Motion and Physical sections of the site or simply contact us with what you need and we’ll do the research for you.

Ben’s the director, and has been representing artists since 1998. As well as taking a strategic hold on things he still likes grabbing a ringing phone and is as happy dealing with commissions as he is handling special projects.
Our Senior Agent Tess is here to help provide just the right artist for your project. Equally happy visiting your agency or handling your enquiry from CIA HQ, she can guide you through artist selection and is an expert in pricing and licenses.

Someone has to balance the books and Sarah is just the person to keep us all on the straight and narrow, keeping a beady eye on expenditure and a furrowed brow on any late payers - not advised…
Our man in Paris. Each time we make an excuse to visit Monsieur Weinberg it's like hanging out with an A-lister. Everyone knows Hugo and Hugo knows everyone - and not only the movers and shakers of the creative industry, but more importantly the Maitre Ds in all the best places to eat.
Looking after Scandinavia for us is design guru Morten. Straight outa Oslo he’s the man to ask if you’re after an international illustrator and is always happy to walk through your project over a coffee.
