David De Las sets the scene for this transportive packaging design

For the second time in this newsletter we get treated to a stunning piece of commercial art plus an insight into its making. Barcelona-based David De Las Heras has created this dreamy olive grove for a wraparound extra virgin oil tin for Alía.

In his own words: "I was commissioned to design the oil tin because the owner of the company wanted to produce a special edition featuring collaborations with artists. The company is small but very exclusive, producing oil for luxury shops and the best restaurants around the world.

I accepted the commission because I saw how elaborate and patient the production process was. In these days when everything moves so fast, it seemed right to collaborate with a company that shares my values, believing that important things require time.

When it came to creating the illustration, I imagined what it would be like to be in that landscape, a place to discover and one that a city person hardly knows. But one that leaves you in wonder.”
