Clay Disarray

It's Friday and to end the week at CIA we have the good news of welcoming Lizzie Campbell better known as Clay Disarray. As her name implies, Lizzie is a clay artist. She mostly creates amazing and very realistic movie posters in various genres, generously doused in humour. But it’s her apparent penchants for darker themes which excite us the most! We can't wait to see her handmade models move in animation.

Born Bad Records

Crazy, bold, psychedelic, surrealist, bizarre, eye catching…there are a lot of adjectives to qualify Elzo Durt’s work but we all agree to say that as mind-boggling as his collages are, we all love it! That’s probably why the record label Born Bad Records has been commissioning Elzo for years and even published a book of his best work. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, the indie-rock label has decided to pay homage to Elzo Durt, the mastermind behind their branded artwork. His combined reference points of Art Nouveau, underground culture and loud colour, creates truly inimitable illustrations.

Love & Yoghurt

It's Valentines day, hoorah. I'm sure we are expected to show you some kind of humorous satirical piece on the perils of romance because, y'know, we're funny like that. This year we're making a change, getting cute and showing off a spectacular project by a truly tremendous artist. Aitch has worked with Chobani to create a fully fledged campaign for their rebrand and release of their latest product. You can see her work beautifully animated over here. Until then, here's some brand illustration, some delicious yoghurt and some super huge lovin' from us.

Tatiana Boyko is providing the tonic for what has so far been a pretty grey start to the year in London. Tatiana's poster art for Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett is providing bundles of cheer,. The choice of colour harks back to seventies retro paired with a contemporary application of style. We're in love and feeling groovy.

Show Time!

From Audrey Hepburn to Marge Simpson, Stanley Chow new exhibition “Mannequin” celebrates female icon, art & pop culture.

“I entered the world of illustration, focusing initially on fashion 20 years ago. However over the years the work you take on doesn’t necessarily reflect the work you want to do (…) I wish I did more fashion illustration and with this exhibition, this is me wanting to scratch that itch.”

Until the end of April, you can find an insight into Stanley early work at Artisan in Manchester.

A Flying Start

Many of you will be familiar with Brian Grimwood's work, a true heavyweight of illustration with an enviable artistic career. We've been enjoying his recent process exploring the possibilities that his pen flourishes can portray on an ipad. His latest portfolio update has been a true delight to consider, with Brian's classic inky style paired alongside his progressive, more abstract digital work that find it's home in packaging and poster art.

Take a look and enjoy!

Richard Wilkinson seems to have a soft spot for scientific matters. His latest art work series involves turning pop culture icons into insects (if you didn’t recognise the world famous Star Wars characters) Smart, detailed & beautiful - well done Richard.

Watcher in the Woods

Deanna Halsall is setting a spooky tone with her graphic poster of the 80's classic horrir, Watcher in The Woods for Lifetime Movies. We'll be adding this to the watch list, once we've gotten over the shock of all the black mirror episodes!
