Cut it out

How refreshing to see some traditional lino cut prints!

Our traditional print artist Claire Melinsky has recently been commissioned for an upcoming exhibition at the Royal College of General Practitioners. On an other note, Clare will also take part in The Great Print Exhibition, the largest exhibition of its kind in the UK. If you are curious about how different prints are made, come and say hello on the 17th, 18th & 19th of November at The Gallery, Rheged, in the beautiful setting of The Lake District.

LifeWTR Open Gallery

Lynnie has been collaborating with LifeWTR on their series celebrating female artists. Did you know that art by women makes up only 5% of permanent collections? They invited Lynnie over to New York to create some work live in their Open Gallery where she drummed up quite the crowd! LifeWTR partner with emerging artists, turning their bottles into a canvas for new art.

Cottonopolis

Andy Singleton's latest work is exhibiting in Manchester Motel One Royal Exchange. Taking inspiration from Manchester's cotton producing history and inspired by the process of manufacturing cotton thread and fabric, Andy Singleton has created a large scale installation and 3 small cased works exploring the theme. The work explores the moment the cotton thread is woven into a new forms and becomes fabric, capturing the energy of the process.

Angels With Dirty Faces

Neal Fox currently has an exhibition in Paris titled Angels with Dirty Faces. Running from 24 June to 28 July get yourself along to The Gallery Suzanne Tarasieve.  Borrowing his title from an American detective film of 1938 (directed by Michael Curtiz), Angels with Dirty Faces exploits the strength of Indian ink and paper to revive the anthological figures of the counterculture (musical, artistic and literary).

AOI Winner

Toby Leigh aka Tobatron has got smart observational wit and his genius sees him as 2017 AOI Research Professional Category Winner. Produced for CIA brief "Reframing The Myth' when CIA partnered 40 of its illustrators with 40 of Graeae Theatre Company’s artists to explore their mutual creativity and produce artwork inspired by the experiences of the company’s actors, dancers, writers and directors. This cultural crossover between art and theatre practicioners was an extrodinary exhibition, illuminating some of the challenges that members of the Deaf and disabled community face due to the governments ongoing changes to the benefits system.

Italian Muse

If you're a fan of fashion culture direct your eyes over here to sample Lynnie Zulu's contribution for Salvatore Ferragamo's exhibition 'Return To Italy'. Found in the 'Italian Women' room at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence celebrating his iconic muses throughout his career. Salvatore began studying shoemaking in Naples, opening a small store in his parents home and soonafter emigrating to Boston to work in a cowboy boot factory with his brothers. They decided to move to California where his made to measure shoes quickly became prized by 'celebrities' of their day. Now hailed as one of the greatest ever shoes designers, the rest as they say is history!

Open To All

As we open the office doors with open arms to the summery weather, Alice Pattullo is preparing to open her exhibition 'Of House and Home' at The Yorkshire Sculpture ParkOf House and Home includes 60 new screen-printed editions, referencing Pattullo’s fascination with superstitions and folklore. The London-based illustrator and printmaker will re-create a home’s interior, focusing on elements of our everyday life, including a fireplace and mantelpiece, in YSP’s Upper Space gallery. The exhibition runs from June 17th - Spetember 17th so be sure to check it out.
